More About

It’s the biggest, baddest showcase of its kind here in the Southwest, and this year’s Dallas Black Film Festival gets an extra dose of fame this time around with a certain guest speaker, Professor Griff. Known to many as an early member of Public Enemy and to others as a die-hard Illuminati watchdog, Griff will lead the three-day affair in his signature, tell-all manner. For its 10th anniversary installment, DBFF has chosen the theme Blaxsploitation, so expect a resurrection of some of those classics, as well as panel discussions on the genre’s development through time. There will also be trivia contests, a juried selection of independent films, children’s films and more. So pop by and learn a little something, and while you’re there give Professor Griff a high five. The 10th Annual Dallas Black Film Festival is held at the Act of Change Institute of Cultural Arts (3200 S. Lancaster Road Suite 623) and at the Pan African Connection (828 Fourth Ave.). Tickets range from $2 to $25. Visit dallasblackfilmfestival.com.
