We like our women just a little on the smash-y side, and the Assassination City derby girls know just how to crash, bash and dash their ways into our hearts. If you like your ladies on wheels, ACRD brings you a “throwback event of epic proportions” with Choose Your Weapon on Saturday. The All-Star team, Special Ops, dropkicks off the night by locking horns (or is that headlocking them?) with Wichita, Kansas’ ICT Rollergirls, followed by the Rec Team’s debut in a Boxers or Briefs Mash-up. Which do you prefer? Wear the undies of your choice and best skivvies-related costume wins a prize. Last up is the debut of the new junior derby Young Guns, cutting their teeth and gnashing others. It’s BYOB (no glass) and BYO Chair, and the stadium fills quickly. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the first match at 7:30 at Dad’s Broadway Skateland in Mesquite — and don’t skip the afterparty at Empire Rock Bar. Tickets are $15 and should be bought in advance at Dad’s, Plucker’s or online at acderby.com.
