The free family festivities offered by some of our vaunted cultural institutions in Dallas are a godsend: a total lifesaver for parents overwhelmed with Montessori tuition, crew lesson installments and gym dues. I mean, people told us that kids were expensive, but who knew that each activity came with such a price tag? It’s not polite to complain about money, but if you get a chance to entertain and enlighten your progeny for a whole day at no cost, I’ll tell you to take it. And the Target First Saturday at the Nasher Sculpture Center(2001 Flora St.) is one of the best opportunities in the city to take advantage of a beautiful cultural experience at no cost. First of all, it’s one of your last chances to experience Ernesto Neto’s stunning Cuddle on the Tightrope installation. Second, there are tons of hands-on activities, starting at 10 a.m. and running the entire day. Start out at a sculpture demo, then move on to the art-themed scavenger hunt, the family tours, yoga and story time with the Dallas Public Library.
