As the saying goes, “If you aren’t from Texas, that’s OK, just get here as fast as you can.” Josh Alan Friedman high-tailed it here in the ’80s and has called the Big D home ever since. He’s filled the city with his own brand of music and writing, which finds humor in his sometimes bizarre life. Friedman performs solo at the Mason Bar on Friday to celebrate the recent re-release of Any Similarity to Persons Living or Dead is Purely Coincidental, a compilation of comics parodying obscure pop-culture figures, which he and his brother, award-winning cartoonist Drew Friedman, collaborated on. After the show is a reading and book-signing. The event runs from 8 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $10. The Mason Bar is located at 2701 Guillot St. For more information, visit joshalanfriedman.blogspot.com.
