Join curators Corey Godfrey and Erica Felicella for an artistic exploration of self-reflection at the opening of their new exhibition, I Can See Myself, this Thursday, at Kettle Art Gallery. This diverse show includes works by more than 20 local artists, including Kettle’s original co-founder, Frank Campagna. Those participating were given a task: Explore the topic of self-perception through a series of questions, like “When you look in a mirror, what do you see?” And, “How do you feel others see you?” It’s the responses that will be used to influence each piece, and run a cohesive thread among the presented works. Erica Felicella, co-curator and participant, has tackled these questions in her work before. Earlier this year she delved into self-reflection and external observation during a performance piece in which she sat inside a clear Plexiglas box, observed night and day by onlookers in Oak Cliff. Kettle Art Gallery is located in Deep Ellum at 2714 Elm St. More information at kettleart.com. The show will be on display until October 13.
Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays. Starts: Sept. 20. Continues through Oct. 13, 2012
