Whoa, Rufus!

On Sunday, the Meyerson Symphony Center plays host to eccentric Canadian-American troubadour Rufus Wainwright. This concert is part of an international tour featuring music from Wainwright’s newest album, Out of the Game. The singer-songwriter produced an opera (Prima Donna) in 2009 and his music is often filled with narrative meandering, but on Out of the Game he explores more pop-driven territory in collaboration with producer Mark Ronson, who has worked with Adele, Amy Winehouse, and Christina Aguilera, to name just a few. “I know some stuff about pop music, but I’m really more centered in the classical world, so I was ready to deliver the goods to Mark and have him take over,” Wainwright says. “I think I sound the best of any album I’ve made. I’m hitting a plateau with my voice that’s very exciting.” The Dallas Symphony Orchestra will not be performing. Tickets range from $29 to $100. More information at dallassymphony.com.
