Love art but hate the gallery circus? Saturday night, there are only three shows you need to schedule into your travels, which lessens the shuffle/scuttle hassle. Over in Oak Cliff artist Clay Stinnet gives us a taste of what he’s been cooking up at Mighty Fine Arts (419 N. Tyler St.). In the last year we’ve seen Stinnet put animal heads on sexy human bodies, dress up the walls of Texas Theatre with galactically weird B-horror film murals and most recently paint a series of Big Tex-on-fire pictures. It’ll be a party, with hooch provided by Stinnet himself. The opening is from 6 to 9 p.m. and you can catch the show on Saturdays and Sundays through December 9. Visit mfagallery.com. Over in Deep Ellum there are two shows to visit: PB&K at Kettle Art (2714 Elm St.) and Mercury Retrograde at 500X (500 Exposition Ave.). The former is an “East meets West collaboration” between Dallas’ Kettle artists and Fort Worth’s Piranha Bear contingent. Over on Expo you’ll find another Fort Worth invasion when Shelby Meier and Bradley Brown join forces for Mercury Retrograde from 7 to 10 p.m. They’ll be artfully exploring the planet’s cyclic power as it enters the final retrograde cycle of the year: a three-week stint during which you just sit tight and reflect.
