More About

Around this time of year, people think about those less fortunate than themselves. The poor, homeless and hungry are put center stage as the community lends a helping hand and shares the holiday spirit by giving, and with a little help from the Stewpot, they can give back in kind. Helping the Dallas homeless 24/7/365 for more than 30 years, the Stewpot has a variety of services, including its Open Art Program, which allows the creatively inclined to express themselves through artwork. The Stewpot has gathered the works of 20 participants for Food for the Soul, a free art exhibition featuring a diverse group of works, from folk and outsider art to abstract and realism. Take some time and check out the Stewpot artists’ work at the opening reception for Food for the Soul from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library Bradshaw Gallery, 1515 Young St. Food for the Soul will be on display through December 27. Call 214-746-2785 or visit thestewpot.org/art.asp.
Sun., Dec. 2, 1:30-4 p.m., 2012
