If you’ve ever dug into your history textbook while huffing mescaline, you might already know the story behind On The Eve, the new locally crafted rock musical written by Michael Federico and Home by Hovercraft’s Seth and Shawn Magill. It’s the almost completely true story of Marie Antoinette, with a few slight updates. Staring down the barrel of revolution, Marie turns to a crazed scientist, a lovely muse, a fearless astronaut and hot-air-balloon time machine for assistance. Plus, there’s singing. The group performed the piece as a staged reading last year, and now it’s back. But this time On The Eve receives the full performance treatment, when director Jeffrey Schmidt brings it to life in conjunction with those forward-thinkers at Nouveau 47. See what happens when history and fantasy collide via time travel Friday through December 15 (dates vary, so select yours at ontheeve.eventbrite.com.). It’s happening at the Magnolia Lounge at Fair Park (1121 First Ave.). Learn more about this Spacegrove Production at ontheevemusical.com.
Thursdays-Saturdays. Starts: Nov. 30. Continues through Dec. 15, 2012
