Toro Y Moi

Friday, February 1, at Trees

Fans of Toro Y Moi have been eagerly awaiting their January release, Anything In Return. Buzz from the album leak earlier this year was that Chaz Bundick, Toro Y Moi's frontman-producer, had created a piece of pop art that will take the chillwave movement into smoother and groovier directions. You won't waste any time seeking out the first two videos for singles "So Many Details" and "Say That," both of which feature Bundick walking around looking cool as fuck amid some well-placed pop culture references. Toro's sound has clearly woken up a bit, especially the sexy disco-fueled "Never Matter." Toro Y Moi may be improving on an already sterling live reputation too. Spune's placement of the band at Trees pays mind to the sound system necessary to experience this new sound live. So, thanks guys. Cop your ticket — chillwave never sounded so pop- and R&B-tinged, which is to say fun.
