The Dallas Pride Performing Arts Festival wraps up Sunday with a staged reading of Cock by Mike Bartlett. Bartlett is from England, so before you get in a lather about the name being smutty, just know that the word has a different meaning there (actually, no, it still means penis). With such an abrupt, sexual, Anglo-Saxon word for a title, you expect something subversive, blunt and more than a little titillating. Cock’s plot is more straightforward than subversive, but it’s still pretty twisty. John and his boyfriend take a break, and to the surprise of everyone involved, he falls in love with a woman. Now John’s boyfriend and John’s girlfriend are both competing for his affection. Hilarity is sure to follow, along with some mayhem and maybe a few fires. The reading begins at 2 p.m. on the nose at Kalita Theater, 3636 Turtle Creek Blvd., and tickets are $10. We’re going to assume the content is of a mature nature.
