Sometimes we need to be reminded how much things suck. It’s a sad fact that getting too happy with our current situation is not only unhealthy but unwise. Which is why the sagacity of Lewis Black is so welcome. Black takes the stage at Bass Performance Hall, 525 Commerce St. in Fort Worth, at 8 p.m. Sunday. He’s a connoisseur not just of how much things suck on a grand political scale, but also on a totally trivial and mundane level. Like candy corn. Seriously, screw that stuff. While he’s best known as that guy who occasionally shows up on The Daily Show and shouts while jabbing with his pointer fingers, Black is also a writer and Yale alumnus. Earlier this summer he released his own PSA countering Rick Perry’s “Come Check Out Texas” campaign, which is mostly about New York being full of food, baseball teams and people willing to say “Fuck you, Texas,” into a stranger’s video camera. Tickets are $39.50 to $69.50 at tickets.basshall.com.
