Veteran performers are a rarity in striptease. Burlesque too, for that matter, though proponents of burlesque say that it’s less about conventional beauty and sexuality and more about entertainment and provocation. In either case it’s unusual to see someone old enough to be a grandmother take the stage, but that’s the case Friday with Nancy Myers, better known as Tammi True, one of the dancers at the defunct Carousel Club, which was run by Jack Ruby, Lee Harvey Oswald’s killer. True is the subject of the movie True Tales, about the JFK assassination from her point of view as a cabaret dancer in 1960s Dallas. She has been appearing at venues in Las Vegas and New Orleans and on Friday she performs at the House of Blues, 2200 N. Lamar St., with the Ruby Revue. Tickets run from $20 to $40 with shows at 8:30 and 11 p.m. Doors open a half hour before each show. For more information and to order tickets, visit therubyrevue.com.
