Martin Scorsese has been directing since 1967, when he made Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore. It wasn’t until The Departed, nearly 40 years later in 2006, that he finally won an Oscar for Best Director, despite many critics declaring him one of the greatest directors to ever live. Here we are now with The Wolf of Wall Street, in a new era of an Oscar-ed Scorsese. The Wolf’s premiere may have you pining for Scorsese before he was establishment cool. If so, then you’re in luck, because the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, 100 S. Central Expressway, Richardson, is showing Raging Bull, Scorsese’s long, ponderous yet exciting look at boxer Jake LaMotta. Leonardo DiCaprio may have talent and charm but De Niro will always be De Niro and there’s just no way to beat that. Show time is 12:30 p.m. and tickets are $5.
