If you think the word “pilates” translates to “rich people stretching,” boy are you wrong -- at least when it takes place at Texas Discovery Gardens in Fair Park. For 45 minutes starting at 6 p.m. Monday you can stretch your hammies in the middle of 7.5 acres of a “wonderful diversity of garden styles and botanical collections.” All you need is a mat and $15 and certified instructor Donelle Simmons will lead you through a routine that will help you work off some of the cookies, pies, eggnog and candy canes you spent the last few weeks consuming at an alarming rate. It’s the holidays. You had to. Kris Kringle demanded it. He’s a sick son-of-a-bitch, but boy is he persuasive. Now it’s time to return to the real world. Texas Discovery Gardens is located at 3601 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Sign up for classes at texasdiscoverygardens.org.
