Dallas has no shortage of comic conventions, but with nerds ascending popular culture and becoming more and more socially acceptable, there’s always room for another con. If you’ve never been to one but are curious, then fix that. Make 2014 the year of the comic. North Texas Comic Book Shows is holding their first ever comic con at the DoubleTree Hotel Dallas Market Center, 2015 Market Center Blvd., starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and going through Sunday. The fledgling show will feature the former editor in chief for Marvel Comics, Tom DeFalco, who has also worked on The Amazing Spider-Man and Thor, and golden age Captain America comic artist Allen Bellman. Don’t despair, DC fans, Ron Marz, writer for Green Lantern, will also be attending. Admission is $10. Children 11 and younger get in for free. Visit comicbooksdallas.com.
