In Nocturne, a 17-year-old piano prodigy accidentally decapitates his 9-year-old sister in an auto accident. Mom goes nuts. Dad threatens to shoot son. Son heads off to New York, escapes to books, becomes a writer and struggles to comes to grips with the tragedy. No further word on what happened to the ’69 Buick Electra whose faulty brakes started the grim ball rolling, which is a shame, because those are considered classics now. Second Thought Theatre presents playwright Adam Rapp’s story of grief, estrangement and reconciliation, opening with a pay-what-you can preview performance at7:30 p.m. Wednesday with further performances Mondays and Thursdays through Saturdays until April 26. The shows are in Bryant Hall next door to the Kalita Humphreys Theater, 3636 Turtle Creek Blvd. Regular tickets are $25, and all Monday performances are pay-what-you-can.
