You know what they say in The Sound of Music about how when God closes a door, somewhere he opens a window? That's a very nice thought. And the And/Or Gallery and House of Dang's Show #24: Rave Simulation is a perfect example of that principle at work. Doors are indeed closing: And/Or Gallery and House of Dang will both shutter their current locations in the coming months, but the metaphorical windows that are opening are vast, sunny ones that are bursting with good things. Paul Slocum's And/Or Gallery has been an integral part of the contemporary arts revival in Dallas over the last three years, and though Slocum and his partners are closing their doors, they are headed to the art mecca of New York City to reopen there. House of Dang, known for their quirky, fashion-forward designs, is also closing up shop on Bryan Street to relocate to a studio in Oak Cliff and launch their new clothing line at a Galleria location. And there's still another window--and this one's a party. The Rave Simulation is exactly what it sounds like, and the celebration of all this transition will feature lots of house and techno music, video content provided by And/Or artists, and general happy thoughts for the future of both organizations. The final dance party will be at And/Or Gallery, 4221 Bryan St., Suite B at 7 p.m. Friday. Admission is free. Visit andorgallery.com for more information.
