If you've never heard of Audrey Tautou, you will after May 19 when the screen adaptation of The Da Vinci Code debuts. The French ingénue will hopefully muster enough charm to distract you from the slicked-back reptilian mullet on top of Tom Hanks' head. If you want to be able to say you loved her before her star explodes then check out Amélie, the surreal romantic fable about a cute girl who goes through a series of cute adventures to find her cute boyfriend. It takes cute to a whole new level and still manages to be a sexy, funny visual feast. You'll never think of photo booths, sex shop workers and garden gnomes the same again after watching Amélie. The movie's in French with subtitles, but don't let that scare you. If you managed to slog through Dan Brown's tome then you should be able to handle two hours of this quick-witted adventure. Amélie screens at midnight Friday and Saturday at the Inwood, 5458 W. Lovers Lane. Admission is $8. Call 214-764-9106 or visit landmarktheatres.com.
