Maybe the traditional holiday elements enlighten and lift your spirit. Maybe you look forward to the toy soldiers, snowflakes, snowmen and peppermints, and that's all fine and dandy. But what if there was more to see this year? What if you got the chance to witness some of ballet's finest figures right beside those peppermints and snowflakes? Now you can. This year, the Dallas Metropolitan Ballet presents The Night Before Christmas with special guests Mikhail Ilyin and Margaret Severin-Hansen. Ilyin, born in St. Petersburg, Russia, graduated from the Vaganova Ballet Academy, and Hansen is a founding member of the Carolina Ballet. The production is directed by Ann Etgen and Bill Atkinson. Performances take place at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Southern Methodist University's McFarlin Auditorium, 6405 Boaz Lane. Tickets are $10 to $40.
