For anyone who’s seen Shrek, it’s impossible to think about the lovable green ogre as having any voice but Mike Myers’ over-the-top Scottish accent. Strangely enough, Chris Farley of SNL fame was the original choice to voice the character on the big screen. (Perhaps even more confusing is that Janeane Garofalo was originally cast as Princess Fiona.) Plus, since the film’s release, many talented actors who are not Myers have gone on to play the role as part of Shrek the Musical, the live theatrical version based on both William Steig’s book Shrek! and the animated film. The show opened on Broadway in December 2009, and now, as Shrek the Musical arrives in Fort Worth, the swamp-dwelling monster will be portrayed by Lukas Post. See him and the rest of the cast live onstage through November 13 at Bass Performance Hall, 525 Commerce St. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday. Tickets start at $22 and can be purchased in person at the box office, by phone at 817-212-4280 or 1-877-212-4280 or online at basshall.com.
