Now that the weather has decided to turn colder, it's time to think of some indoor activities. Then again, this is Dallas, so it might be just as necessary to go indoors to avoid the heat, no matter what the season. A cool (ha!) indoor activity is checking out new artists and new gallery spaces. Fortunately, there seems to be no shortage of either these days. In fact, with the rate that new gallery spaces are opening, it could be a full-time endeavor. OK, maybe not, but there are a lot more galleries than there used to be in town, and one of the newest is the and/or gallery, opened January and located just outside Deep Ellum. In Tight, an exhibition curated by Vance Wingate, the gallery is showcasing new works by local artists C.J. Davis (also the winner of the Observer's prestigious Best Record Store Employee award), Garland Fielder, Brian Jones, Jessica McCambly and Noah Simblist. An excellent chance to check out some great artists at a great new gallery, Tight opens with a 6 p.m. reception Saturday and runs through January 13 at and/or gallery, 4221 Bryan St. Call 214-824-2442.
Saturdays, 12-6 p.m.; Wednesdays, 5-8 p.m. Starts: Dec. 9. Continues through Jan. 13
