My introduction to Texas country happened at Gruene Hall on a summer night many a moon ago. Cross Canadian Ragweed was there, as was Bruce Robison. Afterward, I wanted to buy Bruce's CD, but by a very lucky mistake I bought his brother Charlie's 2003 Live record instead. Charlie makes the kind of music perfect for driving with the windows down, preferably in a beat-up old Chevy with a cowboy hat and a six-pack of cerveza. Outside of the Texas country scene, Robison's better known as the ex-husband of a Dixie Chick than for his music. The divorce added a blue tinge to some of his newer songs, but no doubt Robison will be ready to rock around the Christmas tree at Billy Bob's Texas on Christmas night. Billy Bob's is located at 2520 Rodeo Plaza in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. Tickets are $12 to $16 or visit billybobstexas.com.
