While some organizations are content with tipping their hats to Latino heritage every Cinco de Mayo, the Dallas Mavericks have opted for something more, namely their fourth annual Festival de los Mavs. The festival has its share of cultural activities, as well as free autograph sessions with former Mavs players Rolando Blackman and Derek Harper, plus photo ops with the Larry O'Brien Trophy and Dallas Mavericks Dancers. Bands will play throughout the day, including featured musical guest 3BALLMTY. This trio of DJs is influential in the growing tribal guarachero genre that injects pre-Hispanic sounds with house electronica. The festival offers a number of free give-aways and activities, including a rock climbing wall sponsored by the National Guard, bounce house play areas and a diabetes testing area. The festivities begin at noon, with activities occurring throughout the day at the American Airlines Center, 2500 Victory Ave. Admission is free. For details visit mavs.com//losmavs.
