Google it and you'll witness its dilution ad infinitum on blogs that slam boob jobs and poseurs, written by people that buy Chinese knockoffs to save money. Rewind about 10 years and you'll find actor/director Orson Welles' 1974 doc, Vérités et Mensonges (F is for Fake), a rambling montage biodoc about art forger Elmyr de Hory. The suicidal genius was ripped off by his managers; his fakes became prized after his death. Who’s the criminal here? Though rarely screened, F is critically acclaimed for its provocative, surreal exposé of the film and art industry.
