Although in the 1930s the Bath House at White Rock Lake was just that, it currently draws from that era's historical salons, which facilitated all manners of artist exchange. Salon du FIT 4 showcases work by modern frontrunners in art and performance under the Bath House roof and turns it into an audience retreat reminiscent of the ones patronized by the likes of Picasso, Hemingway and Matisse. Salon is presented in conjunction with the Bath House's annual Festival of Independent Theatres, which includes a diverse selection of comedy, drama and mystery. Not bad for a place that saw more water than watercolors when salons were at their peak. Salon du FIT 4 exhibits noon to 6 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays through August 4 at the Bath House Cultural Center, 521 E. Lawther Drive. Admission is free. Theatre performances are $12 to $16. For information and performance times, call 214-670-8749 or visit bathhousecultural.com.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 12-6 p.m. Starts: July 18. Continues through Aug. 4
