Gotta Know the Territory

He's just a bang-beat, bell-ringing, big-haul, great-go, neck-or-nothin', rip-roarin', every-time-a-bull's-eye salesman. That's Professor Harold Hill, Harold Hill. And like robins in spring the good professor and his con make regular returns to Dallas with performances of Music Man — not that anyone is complaining. Who could be grumpy about a chance to hear “Seventy-six Trombones,” “The Wells Fargo Wagon,” “Goodnight My Someone” and a slew of songs from Meredith Wilson's multi-Tony winning musical about Hill and his scheme to sell a stiff-necked Iowa town on the idea of a marching band? The professor makes a stop at the Jewish Community Center of Dallas, 7900 Northaven Road, at 8 p.m. Saturday with more performances at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, 7:30 p.m. March 1 and 8 p.m. March 3. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, with discounts for students and seniors. Purchase online at or call 214-739-2737.
Sat., Feb. 25, 8 p.m.; Sun., Feb. 26, 2 & 7:30 p.m.; Thu., March 1, 7:30 p.m.; Sat., March 3, 8 p.m., 2012
