Last time Chelsea Handler was in town, I took my friend who is a huge fan of the sassy, brassy, not-ashamed-about-being-sorta-slutty comic and host of E! Entertainment's Chelsea Lately. This friend is the one who introduced me to Handler's books: collections of certifiably embarrassing and relatable moments ranging anywhere from skid-marked underwear to midget fetishes to being really, really, exceptionally, sticky-haired, piss-panted drunk to growing up a smart-ass. So I took her to the show. And we inadvertently got front-row tickets. Then we got really nervous that Handler would, for whatever reason, call us out...you know, like she does. She didn't. But the loud and crazy bitch to our left with the giant hoop earrings totally got her bedazzled ass ripped by the queen of the one-night one-liner. It reigned. I would have bought Handler a vodka if she hadn't already assured the audience she had a fifth in her dressing room. Handler signs her new release Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea 7 p.m. Friday at Borders Preston Road at Royal Lane before heading to Lakewood Theater for her live show at 8:15 p.m. Call 214-373-8000 or visit ticketmaster.com.
