Comedian Joel McHale began as an improv sketch artist, but he made a name for himself as host of the E! network's hit show The Soup, using his quick wit and severe sarcasm to poke fun at celebrities, talk show guests and basically anyone else who has managed a television appearance. He's made even more of a name for himself as the star of the NBC sitcom Community, a show about a lawyer who is forced to go back to school and ends up as part of a group of misfits. Now he's coming to town with his stand-up show, in which he does bits about his professional life, his family life and his general nerdity, all in his casual, gently mocking style. McHale will be at the Verizon Theatre at Grand Prairie, 1001 Performance Place, this Friday. Catch him while you can, because the way things are going for McHale, who has two major films coming out next year, and even more happening on the horizon, he's not going to have much time to come to town to tell you jokes in the future. Tickets are $45.75 to $66.75. Call 972-854-5111 or visit verizontheatre.com.
