Pull out your swingiest vintage skirt and shine your dance shoes because Dallas’ most authentic Prohibition-era jazz band is coming to Oak Cliff for a night of two-steps, one-steps, fox trots and waltzes. On Thursday, head to the Kessler Theater, 1230 W. Davis St., to hear the Singapore Slingers play popular music from the early 20th century. This large, 19-member orchestra specializes in music from 1900 to 1935. With period instruments, costumes and a vintage vibe, the Slingers give you a chance to experience the sounds of the age as they were meant to be heard. The Kessler’s classic art-deco vibe provides the perfect backdrop for this big band, and the venue’s bartenders know how to whip up Prohibition-era cocktails that will keep you swigging and swinging until your vintage pumps start to pinch. The bar opens at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 8. Tickets range from $17.50 to $30 and more information can be found at thekessler.org.
