There are people who follow trails, and people who always get lost trying to follow the trails made by others. For those falling into the latter category, National Trails Day is just the thing for you. Instead of following other people's trails, you can be a regular trailblazer by helping hack out a section of trail through Blackland Prairie. There won't be any commemorative plaques (unless your hike goes terribly wrong), but you'll be able to cut your own path and enjoy natural scenery and wildlife. The event starts at Blackland Prairie Raptor Center, in Brockdale Park at Lake Lavon. Wear good shoes. Registration is requried so visit bpraptorcenter.org for details.
