Best known as one of the founding members of the ground-breaking, quasi-controversial Axis of Evil Comedy Tour, Iranian-born stand-up comic and actor Maz Jobrani must love all the new TSA regulations put in place just before the holiday travel season-- after all, his routine on the tour's 2007 Comedy Central special starts with a barrel-chested TSA lady slipping on a rubber glove before hollering: "Cavity search!" (The Comedy Central special was billed as the first show with an all Middle-Eastern/American cast to flicker across U.S. living rooms.) Packed with post-9/11 humor, The Axis of Evil tour sold out shows all over the U.S and the Middle East. Though, one wonders how much Jobrani and Co. had to alter their far-from-politically-correct punch lines for some of their more conservative Muslim audiences. His current solo gig, Maz Jobrani: Brown and Friendly--paired with a number of recurring network TV roles--has earned him plenty of press of late. Jobrani will be celebrating the New Year at the Addison Improv, 4980 Belt Line Road in Addison, where he'll perform nightly Thursday through Sunday. Tickets are $25.
