We've all seen the stereotypical dragonfly--the little stick bug with four wings that resides on juice glasses or pillows or wallpaper or garden stakes. Seems like unfairly limited representation when you consider that in Dallas alone there are 75 species of the "winged jewel." Texas Discovery Gardens in Fair Park offer a special four-hour workshop with U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service biologist Omar Bocanegra. Tour the gardens and Fair Park, meet several of the flying creatures and learn what makes dragonflies so darn amazing...aside from those beautiful iridescent wings, that is. Winged Jewels: Dragonfly Workshop takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $30, or $24 for TXDG members. To register, call 214-428-7476 or visit texasdiscoverygardens.org.
