He's back! You remember Daniel Edwards, no doubt. He's the La Porte, Indiana artist who loves sculpting a bit of controversy into his celebrity, um, shrines? No, that's not it. Celebrity studies? Maybe.

Just about two weeks ago Pete over on DC9 satisfied the need for a good WTF? moment when he alerted us all to the nude Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez figure soon to grace the likes of New Fine Arts.

Then there was more. Biebs fans, and those interested in Cynthia Plaster Caster, naturally, were teased during a subsequent Q&A with the celeb sculptor. P-Freed's probing him on the rumor of an additional JB-inspired (cod)piece making its way to Big D along with the nude teen sensations, proved fruitless: Edwards wouldn't budge on details.

But it seems that as of midnight, with thanks to Facebook and Edwards' representation at Cory Allen Contemporary Art, what lies behind the Canadian maple leaf on that original bronze Bieber has been revealed. The puddy-tat is out of the bag, so to speak.

Upcoming Events

We can't say we wish it were animated like before, but nevertheless the CACA statement and full image are after the jump.

From CACA, Edwards' publicist/artistic representation:

NEW YORK (August 24, 2011) - Images of the allegorical tribute to teen idol Justin Bieber created by controversial New York artist Daniel Edwards are being released by Cory Allen Contemporary Art this week. "Allegory of a Teen Sex Symbol (Justin Bieber)"shows a symbolic representation, in a manner inspired by renaissance painter Giuseppe Acrimboldo's portraits created from assemblages of fruit, and groupie Cynthia Plaster Caster's famous series of plaster casts of 60s rock stars. "Daniel wanted to create a work that opens a dialogue about the inevitable exploitation of teen sex symbols as they grow from child stars to adults, like we've seen with past celebutantes Lindsay, Miley, and Britney," said the artist's representative Cory Allen. "It would be naïve and hypocritical for anyone to be offended by this simple sculpture, yet be apathetic towards the plethora of images to which they subject themselves on a daily basis," said Daniel Edwards, "I stand by the work."

And without further ado, the sculpture:

*While it's phallic, it's not full-on flesh-toned peen, so we don't see how it's really NSFW. But we're also at an alt weelky where our filters are generally set to "moderate," and thus we're looking out for ya. Think we're going with the No Sylvester! For What?! version of NSFW around the office.
