Contraband

Director: Baltasar Kormákur Writer: Aaron Guzikowski Condensed Cast: Mark Wahlberg, Kate Beckinsale, Ben Foster

Mark Wahlberg stars as a former pop star/underwear model turned actor turned smuggler turned former smuggler who gets himself in deep with a drug lord to protect his brother-in-law's life. Millions of dollars in counterfeit money and Panama comes into play...the republic...not the Van Halen track. Kate Beckinsale, Giovanni Ribisi, Ben Foster, JK Simmons and Diego Luna round out an impressive cast.

Joyful Noise

Director: Todd Graff Writer: Todd Graff Condensed Cast: Queen Latifah, Dolly Parton, Keke Palmer

Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton star in what is essentially a ripoff of the first season of Glee. I'm guessing the most joyful noise in this film is the silence after Dolly stops signing.

Beauty and the Beast 3D

Director: Gary Trousdale, Kirk Wise Writer: Linda Woolverton Condensed Cast: Robby Benson, Paige O'Hara, Richard White

Disney invites you to be their guest as they bring their 1991 classic back to the big screen, this time with the third dimension post-conversion treatment. It's like you can almost feel the heat coming off that French candlestick's head!

The Iron Lady (Only at The Magnolia)

Director: Phyllida Lloyd Writer: Abi Morgan Condensed Cast: Meryl Streep, Jim Broadbent, Alexandra Roach

Meryl Streep gives us her bid for this year's award season (we just expect at least one every year now, don't we?) with this biopic of Margaret Thatcher, the first and only woman prime minister of England. Unfortunately, Streep does not wear an effeminate Iron Man-like suit throughout the entire political drama. Nope, not even once. I know, I was disappointed too.

Carnage (Only at Angelika Plano)

Director: Roman Polanski Writer: Roman Polanski, Yasmina Reza Condensed Cast: Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz

Auteur Roman Polanski returns with this adaptation of playwright Yasmina Resa's "Le Dieu du carnage" (Resa co-wrote the screenplay with Polanski) about two sets of parents (Jodie Foster & John C. Reilly and Kate Winslet & Christoph Waltz) who come together to discuss their son's recent scuffle, ensuing their own parental push and shove.

In the Land of Blood and Honey (Only at Angelika Dallas)

Director: Angelina Jolie Writer: Angelina Jolie Condensed Cast: Zana Marjanovic, Goran Kostic, Rade Serbedzija

Angelina Jolie makes her feature directorial and writing debut with this drama set during the Bosnian War about former lovers, one a Serb soldier and the other his Bosnian captive, torn apart by their allegiances.

The Divide (Only at The Inwood Friday & Saturday at midnight)

Director: Xavier Gens Writer: Karl Mueller, Eron Sheean Condensed Cast: Michael Biehn, Milo Ventimiglia, Lauren German

Michael Biehn just can't stay away from the post-apocalyptic genre can he? The father of John Connor stars in this ensemble driven indie about a group of nuclear holocaust survivors holed up in their basement after the world above them is reduced to rubble.
