One of the country's most interesting theater troupes resides in Austin. Just a quick ride down 35 will guide you to the backyard of the Rude Mechanicals, a group that creates off-the-wall, intellectually challenging and wildly fun theater. It's worth the drive every time, whether they're workshopping a piece, or performing it in full. This month you'll just have to maneuver yourself downtown to see their latest show, Stop Hitting Yourself, a wild romp through American materialism and excessive consumption, decorated in gold and twinkling lights and filled with tap dancing, intrigue, music and topped off with a queso fountain.

Speaking of queso, we have a proposition. If you want to see the show but your Netflix payment just over drafted your checking account, you can simply upload a photo to Instagram of you with a bowl of queso, which you presumably bought with a credit card, and write something clever that includes the hashtag, #RudeMechs. Our marketing team will be scouring the photos for a winner. Last time I checked there was a grand total of no photos, so your odds are great.

It plays at Wyly Theatre as part of the Off Broadway on Flora series from May 28-30. Now you canStop Hitting Yourself for running out of money and see the Rude Mechs for free. Or buy 'em yourself you cheap schmuck for reasonable prices at attpac.org.
