With the August heat getting up to “What fresh hell is this?” levels, dog owners need to be particularly diligent when they’ve got their pets outdoors. It’s important to keep your dogs cool and hydrated when you’re out and it’s best to do the same for yourself while you’re at it. Give your fur child a rest at home since dogs aren’t allowed at Bark-N-Beer at McFadden’s (4050 Belt Line Road, Addison), which runs from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, and rep for him as only a human can by buying a $30 ticket for the affair. It benefits Operation Kindness, the biggest no-kill animal shelter in North Texas. Entry gets you a flight of beer, a hot dog (get it!?) bar, nachos, queso and more. There will also be a silent auction and raffles going down, so you’ll have plenty of chances to pick up swag while helping out some animals in need. And give your own dog a hug when you get home. Call 972-418-PAWS or visit operationkindness.org for tickets.
