I have a relative who insists that the door from a public bathroom must be opened with a paper towel. She has her reasons, explaining that when people don't wash their hands, they touch the doorknob and...you get the picture. The first time she told me this I stared at her with goggle-eyed wonder. And then it started to make sense. And then it started to make too much sense, and I found myself opening a bathroom door with my foot. Urinetown is the Tony award-winning answer to those who wonder what the world would be like with only public toilets. Set in the near future, the world's population has grown to the point that private toilets have been banned (so I guess bathroom reading has become a thing of the past) and the Urine Good Company controls all of the pay-per-pee services. This is a concerned story with a message--in a musical comedy send-up's clothing. So you can giggle at pee jokes and ponder the dangers of capitalism and social irresponsibility all at the same time. Repertory Company Theatre presents Urinetown 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays, Friday through October 19 at the Promenade Theatre, 650 N. Coit Road in Richardson.
