There is absolutely no better time to watch Jim Henson's tour de force, The Dark Crystal, than at the crack of midnight. The dark and dreamy fantasy film, noted for its then state-of-the-art animatronics and absurd folklore-inspired plot, is going to be 30 years old in just a couple of months. Since then, animatronics have only become more sophisticated, puppets are just about non-existent in the film world due to CGI and the film's creator, the incomparable Jim Henson, has passed away. The Inwood Theatre, 5458 W. Lovers Lane, screens the 1982 film at midnight Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $10. We're not necessarily suggesting you do hallucinogens before seeing it, but if you do so be prepared for quite the trip. For more information or to reserve tickets, call 214-764-9106 or visit landmarktheatres.com.
Sat., Sept. 10, midnight; Sun., Sept. 11, midnight, 2011
