Lots of people find car shows frightening, but the British Halloween car show combines two frightening things: Dads pacing around cars and Halloween. The British Emporium (billed as "the most British spot in town") is hosting its annual fall car show, and it will be made even more frightening this year by tea, err, people in costumes. The show offers a high tea, more than 100 cars from the glory days of British motoring (think motor goggles, a shiny Rolls Royce and a stiff upper lip), and for the younger ones who maybe don't find the presence of an Austin Healey terrifyingly exciting there are other forms of terror... I mean, excitement. Dr. Braintree, having ceased his human experimentation, has moved on to tea, and there are opportunities to try what he believes to be the perfect cup of this decidedly British brew. Dine on finger food, eyeball pie, creepy cake, bug buns and squashed fly biscuits, but if Dr. Braintree asks what you think of his tea, be careful how you answer. He might decide to take up human experiments again! The British Emporium is located at 140 N. Main St. in Grapevine. The show's free, but donations of canned goods are welcome. Call 817-421-2311 or visit british-emporium.com.
