Like crows, lots of ladies like shiny things. I know this because I am a lady (not a crow, though I have been accused of squawking) who oohs and ahhs over flashy sequins and bright baubles. Some of us cant help it; its in our nature to accessorize. What we women also adore is a good bargain. Both can be had at the International Gem and Jewelry Show this weekend. The show caters to wholesalers, but theres a big section for us regular people who dont wheel and deal in diamonds. The show promises unique treasures, gold and silver pieces, exotic gems, beads and pearls all at a discount. Pieces plucked from estate sales may yield one-of-a-kind vintage finds. Get there early before the best deals disappear. The International Gem and Jewelry Show is at Dallas Market Hall, 2200 N. Stemmons Freeway. The show is noon to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $6. Kids younger than 8 are not allowed into the show. Visit intergem.com.
