Despite his name, Dan Savage is not barbaric or uncivilized. He doesn’t have war paint smeared across his cheeks. (Does he?) Yet, most would agree he is harsh, honest and sometimes aggressive — especially toward social conservatives named Santorum. Savage tells it how it is, which is evident in his relationship and sex advice column. Savage is coming to Texas to be the keynote speaker at UNT’s 12th Equity & Diversity Conference. He will discuss his “It Gets Better Project,” which allows adults to upload encouraging videos in support of GLBT teenagers. The conference will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at UNT’s University Union, 1155 Union Circle in Denton. Savage speaks at 10 a.m. Tickets are $100 for UNT students, faculty and staff; $150 for non-UNT students; and, $275 for others. To register for the conference, you can visit http://edo.unt.edu/content/conference-registration-form-0.
