Starting A Kid Art Revolution

Fact: Being called “Yankee Doodle” wasn’t exactly nice in pre-Revolutionary War terms. And “macaroni” once referred to an 18th-century metrosexual. These days, we’ve reclaimed the epithet, learning to belt out one’s “Yankee Doodle Dandiness” as early as kindergarten when macaroni is considered the epitome of all artistic media. Seem confusing? Oil and Cotton helps bring it all together for the little folks during The Yankee Doodles Sing-A-Long, an afternoon of art and songs at the Reading Room. In partnership with Danette Dufilho of Conduit Gallery, Oil and Cotton and the Reading Room teach young artists with a “revolutionary” theme from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Reading Room, 3715 Parry Ave. Visit for more details.
Sun., Aug. 19, 4-6 p.m., 2012
