I hope she takes this as a compliment, but I wish local artist Pauline Hudel-Smith would consider creating fabric and wallpaper. Her illustrations, filled with popping color and geometric design, are just beautiful enough to surround yourself with and quirky enough to be out of the norm. Or maybe I'm just reading too many home decorating magazines. Although I'm not sure she'd appreciate it if I said, "I'd love to upholster my chair with your 'Untitled #2'." I figure if her work is good enough for Neiman Marcus to put on their Christmas book, then it's more than great for sprucing up my tiny flat. See for yourself as Hudel-Smith's The Process is featured at Brookhaven College's Atrium Gallery, 3939 Valley View Lane, through March 28. Call the gallery at 972-860-4735 for gallery times and additional information.
Mondays-Fridays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: March 14. Continues through March 28, 2008
