"Oh, Great Pumpkin, where are you?" Linus laments in the classic kid's flick It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, as he awaits the hallowed pumpkin's arrival. If Linus happened to be loitering with his blankie around these parts, I'd direct him to the Dallas Arboretum. He'd surely go out of his gourd at the sight of thousands of pumpkins -- 40,000, to be exact -- dotting the 66-acre garden. See for yourself during Autumn at the Arboretum: The Great Pumpkin Festival, which opens Saturday. Try navigating the hay bale maze and take a snapshot at the Tom Thumb Pumpkin Patch. Take the kids to the Storybook Pumpkin Village, four houses constructed from pumpkins and gourds depicting children's stories. Thursday, Beatlegras, a Beatles tribute band with a bluegrass twist, kicks off the Cool Thursdays concert series. The show starts at 7 p.m.; tickets are $16 for non-members. The festival runs through November 14 at the Dallas Arboretum, 8525 Garland Road. Discount tickets are available at Tom Thumb stores. General admission tickets are priced between $7 to $10; on-site parking is $7. Daily hours are 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. For more information call 214-515-6500 or visit dallasaboretum.org.
