To The Max

According to his Web site, pop artist Peter Max was born in Germany and grew up in Shanghai, where he lived in a "pagoda-style house situated amidst a Buddhist monastery, a Sikh temple and a Viennese cafe." When he was 10, Peter and his family "traveled across the vast expanse of China to a Tibetan mountain camp at the foothills of the Himalayas. Then they journeyed 9,000 feet up to a beautiful, white-turreted hotel in a mountain paradise that seemed like Shangri-La." Peter then journeyed to India, Africa, France, Israel and finally, America. Call me crazy, but I think he stole the whole cockamamie story from Batman Begins. Ask the man himself from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bass Performance Hall, 330 East Fourth St. in Fort Worth, or 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Artizen Fine Arts, 1215 Dragon St. Call 1-866-398-8390 or visit
