Quite frequently I am at a party with food, cocktails and music and think to myself, "This party is missing something. Something very big and very important." So, I go through the checklist: food, check; cocktails, check; music, check; zoo animals...and then it hits me. That's it: This party is missing zoo animals. But there's one party Saturday night that certainly won't make that mistake: the 2009 Zoo To Do at the Dallas Zoo, 6500 S. R.L. Thornton Freeway. From 5 to 11 p.m., guests will party it up in the Wilds of Africa exhibit, dancing, drinking and eating food from some of Dallas' finest chefs. They'll also be able to take the Monorail Safari Tour and bid on items in silent and live auctions. The theme is Gone Wild!, which seems suitable for a group of party animals. (See what I did there?) Come celebrate the new 10-acre safari exhibit Giants of the Savannah, which opens in 2010. Tickets are $250, and sponsorships are $1,500. Visit dallaszootodo.com for tickets or more information.
Sat., Oct. 10, 5-11 p.m., 2009
