Your Chance to Be a Ringmaster

It takes an elite brand of nerd to walk away from The Lord of the Rings trilogy and say, "Nine hours was not nearly enough." Fathom Events is answering that plaintive, geeky wail with a three-night theatrical event that brings even more fur-footed folks and elf-on-orc action to the silver screen than ever before. Each film begins with new special introductions by director Peter Jackson from the New Zealand set of the upcoming Lord of the Rings prequel, The Hobbit. The films include roughly an hour of additional footage apiece, making this movie-watching experience as epic as the trilogy itself. Provided, of course, that the cut content includes more than extreme close-ups of Elijah Wood looking anxious. All of this is a sneak peek in advance of the June 28 release of the 15-disc box set, The Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy: Extended Edition on Blu-Ray. Nineteen metroplex area theaters participate in this national three-day event, including theaters in Arlington, Plano and Dallas’ own NorthPark Center. The Fellowship of the Ring screens Tuesday, The Two Towers screens June 21, and The Return of the King screens June 28. Showtimes begins at 7 p.m. each night. Ticket prices vary by theater, so visit for more information.
