The best way to assure you'll get good fried chicken is to order it from a place that does little else. Henderson on Abrams Road is just this type of takeout chicken joint. The menu may look large, but it really just offers an endless array of chicken parts, assembled in two-piece, three-piece and other-piece combinations. While rookie fry shacks serve up chicken with greasy crusts that drip with oil before they slough off with one bite, the chicken at Henderson has integrity. The skin stays attached to the meat until your teeth say it's time to let go, and it's rich but not excessively greasy. Make sure you get some of the pickled whole jalapeños. Prick one with a fork and squeeze the vinegary brine that's inside all over your cardboard basket full of golden brown deliciousness. There's no better condiment for fried.

Although this place has the potential to be a game changer in chicken restaurants, I must say this place is a huge disappoint. I decided to give this establishment another chance and tried to order a six piece tenders, I mean if all they sell is chicken then I should be able to order it right? WRONG!! Once again they were out of tenders and it wasn't even 6pm, this was the forth time this has happened.

I then decided to order a whole chicken which is supposed to come with fries, pickles, pepper and bread however I did receive this but the fries were equivalent to that of the golden arches small size. I am not sure what methodology this is where you get a whole chicken and a small size fries.

After requesting and paying for extra seasoning it was discovered they did not put the extra seasoning on my order this happens every time so once again I was cheated. They nickel and dime you for everything extra including a couple slices of pickles. I understand this is an establishment and that's fine however they need to be able to compensate somewhere else in an order if they are going to play the cheap card.

In regards to the chicken tenders, they must have gone through a serious weight and height loss program because they used to be tender and quite plump but now they are lean and quite small. The taste is still almost the same minus the seasoning which it would seem the fries get more of the seasoning than the meat.

I also have a few other issues I expected more from a black owned business however walking in and seeing the soda fountain leaning because the cabinet that it sits on is leaning says a lot about management not willing or too cheap to replace the cabinet or repair it, this is not conducive to business longevity as the food is beginning to lack in substance and the management is not taking heed to this.

Lastly the wait. For a business that only sells chicken and bread meals it takes sometimes over 15 minutes to get your food after purchase and don't even think about the service because it would seem that the workers are pissed off every time someone walks through the door and places an order which means they do not want to work and mad at the world because they have customers. I wonder could they work there if customers stopped coming?

Please do not feel that I am just giving the worst of reviews because this is not the case however I must state that personally it can be a much better experience if the minor details were fixed.
