I'll Admit It, I Was Dead Wrong About Todd Dodge
Something I thought I'd never write in 2011: Todd Dodge is the new quarterbacks coach at Pitt.
By now I figured Dodge -- who ascended from historic success at Southlake Carroll High School to a gig at North Texas -- would be choosing from primo Division I jobs in the wake of multiple Sun Belt Conference championships and bowl appearances.
His innovative offense would befuddle college opponents just as it did high school defenses and off he'd go ...
After going 79-1 and winning four state championships in his last five years at SLC, Dodge flopped in Denton. At UNT he went 6-37 and authored some of the worst defenses in the history of college football.
At the time of his hiring by UNT way back in 2006 I thought it was genius. A natural progression. Oops.
Four years later Dodge, North Texas and Southlake Carroll are worse off. In retrospect, he should've never left.
